PM Rama: Work advances on ‘Lungomare 3’ coastal project to boost Vlora tourism by 2030

TIRANA, Oct 30 /ATA/  – Construction is progressing on the “Lungomare 3” project, the new section of seafront promenade that will stretch from the Uji i Ftohte area in Vlora to the coastal villages of Radhime and Orikum, intended to expand pedestrian and recreational spaces and enhance the southern city’s tourism appeal, Prime Minister Edi Rama said on Thursday.

PM Rama shared footage from the site, describing the project as key to transforming Vlora into a higher-value tourist destination.

“The Orikum-Lungomare 3 and the bypass stretching along the hills above the Vlora–Orikum road, will bring a completely new breathing space for ‘Touristic Vlora 2030,’” he wrote on social media.

The project, financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), includes the construction of two bypass segments to divert vehicle traffic and create new pedestrian seaside corridors.

Officials say the redesigned waterfront will increase public space, allow for cycling lanes and promenades, and support a more sustainable tourism model.

The government has promoted the Vlora coastal redevelopment as part of a broader plan to build what it says could become the longest uninterrupted seaside promenade in the Mediterranean, once future phases including “Lungomare 4” are completed.

The new pedestrian areas will benefit both residents and domestic and international visitors to the Albanian Riviera, which has seen steadily rising tourism in recent years.
