TIRANA, Oct 24 /ATA/ The OSCE Presence in Albania organized a one-day training on data protection for the Albanian Passenger Information Unit (PIU).
Held in Tirana on 22 October, the workshop gathered representatives from the PIU, the Office of the Commissioner for Personal Data Protection, Customs, and Dutch experts, who shared international best practices and insights from the Netherlands’ experience.
Discussions focused on the implementation of Albania’s new Law on the Processing of Travel Information, the EU Directive on Data Protection, and practical challenges in ensuring secure and responsible data management.
The activity concluded with a study visit to the premises of the Albanian PIU at Rinas Airport on 23 October, where participants observed data protection practices in an operational setting.
