Race for SPAK chief prosecutor: HPC approves four candidates

TIRANA, Oct 20 /ATA/ The High Prosecutorial Council (HPC) on Monday approved the list of candidates eligible for leadership positions at the Special Prosecution Office for the Fight against Corruption and Organized Crime.

Specifically, the HPC approved the names of four candidates—Adnan Xholi, Klodian Braho, Doloreza Musabelliu, and Ervin Gogaj—all current prosecutors at SPAK.

The decision was made with 10 votes in favour from HPC members, while member Zeqir Hoda was absent from the vote on this matter.

Once the legal requirements and documentation are verified, the candidates will be invited for a public interview by the HPC.

This process takes place ahead of the expiration of Altin Dumani’s three-year term on December 18. Dumani is the second head of SPAK since its establishment, succeeding Arben Kraja.

The eight SPAK prosecutors serve a nine-year term, while the chief prosecutor of SPAK holds a three-year term with no right to reappointment.

The Special Prosecutorial Office against Organized Crime and Corruption was established on December 19, 2019, as one of the new institutions created under the Justice Reform.
