TIRANA, October 16 /ATA/ The six finalist teams present today their architectural project ideas to the jury of the International Competition for the Renovation of the “Asllan Rusi” Sports Palace in Tirana.
Also present at this presentation was Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sports Blendi Gonxhja. He said that the sports palace goes beyond a building, as it is a part of our history, a space where entire generations of athletes have grown up and where sport has united people, families, events and communities.
“With revival of the “Asllan Rusi”, we aim to create a true arena for indoor sports, a unique contemporary, safe and functional space, which will serve for the most important national and international competitions, but also for mass sports and the civic community, very close to the heart of Tirana, the metropolitan capital”, said Gonxhja.
The project is part of the Albanian government vision for modernization of sports infrastructure, making sport a priority for national development.
The minister also mentioned the connection of sport with economic development: generation of employment, tourism, increased income for businesses and the local economy, etc. /a.f//r.e/p.s./
