TIRANA, October 15/ATA/ Under the chair of Speaker of the Assembly Niko Peleshi, today there was held the Speakers Conference.
The Conference of Speakers reached agreement and approved two requests, the request of a group of MPs of the Parliamentary Group of the Socialist Party “On the establishment of the Parliamentary Ad ‘hock Commission of the Assembly of Albania for Implementation of the Electoral Reform” and the request “On the establishment of the Special Parliamentary Commission of the Assembly of Albania for the Administrative-Territorial Reform in the Republic of Albania”.
However, during the proceedings, Head of the Democratic Party Parliamentary group Gazment Bardhi said that, “We agree on establishment of the commission, as this issue is an obligation. But, I request that this commission should be established after we have the final report of the OSCE-ODIHR. We cannot make changes, when we are waiting for the recommendations and suggestions from that report. So, I propose that the establishment of this commission should be done immediately after the publication of the report”.
Bardhi added that, “Here it was said that the commission consists of 16 members: 8 from the Socialist Party and 8 from other Parliamentary parties. The Parliamentary parties in the Assembly are 13. So, it is not operated on the basis of Parliamentary parties, but on the basis of Parliamentary groups. This has been the tradition”.
Speaking on the Special Commission on Administrative-Territorial Reform, Bardhi stressed that, “You are breaking Parliamentary tradition and undermining consensus. This reform must guarantee a consensual mechanism.” /gj.m/r.e/a.f/p.s./
