TIRANA, October 9/ATA/ Chairman of the Democratic Party in opposition Sali Berisha reacted today to what he called poor security measures in the courts, while he considered a state murder Judge Astrit Kalaja being shot dead in the courtroom of the Court of Appeal.
Speaking to reports outside the Assembly hall, Berisha also reacted to yesterday’s decision of the government to improve security measures for the heads of the Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime, SPAK and BKH.
“The judge was killed; he was executed in a barbaric manner while doing his duty. And the narco-government, instead of determining measures for the protection of judges, duplicated measures for the protection of heads. I am not against the protection of these, but the Court of Appeal and the Appeals judge, in terms of the decision, are the most important in judicial decision-making”, said Berisha.
Also, Berisha expressed full support for the request of the heads of justice institutions to guarantee security in the courts.
The government approved yesterday the decision that provides that the heads of the Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime and BKH will be accompanied by bodyguards throughout the term of office and for an additional period of 2 years after the end of the term. While for the head of SPAK, it is foreseen that his protection will last for 3 years after the end of the term. /m.m/j.p/p.s./
