TIRANA, Oct 4 /ATA/ – The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Elisa Spiropali, commented Saturday Hamas’ decision to release all hostages, calling it a significant step toward long-awaited peace in the Middle East.
In a statement on the social media, Foreign Minister Spiropali praised U.S President Donald Trump’s efforts toward long-awaited peace in the Middle East.
“Two years of hopelessness after the horrendous attacks, the news of Hamas’s decision to release all hostages lights a fragile but precious flame of hope,” Spiropali said, adding: “May it mark the dawn of a new chapter, where Israelis and Palestinians can live not in parallel grief, but in shared peace and dignity.”
“Albania welcomes this step with an open heart and a steadfast belief in reconciliation, and commends President Donald Trump’s efforts that have drawn the Middle East closer to the horizon of peace long awaited,” Spiropali stated.
U.S. President Donald Trump has called on Israel to immediately halt airstrikes in Gaza, following Hamas’ acceptance of the main elements of his peace plan. The 20-point proposal forwarded by President Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, includes an immediate ceasefire, the exchange of Israeli hostages and Palestinian prisoners, and the gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza.
The plan also envisages the disarmament of Hamas and the establishment of a transitional Palestinian government under international supervision.
