TIRANA, Oct 4 /ATA/ – Albania has become one of the Balkans’ most attractive travel destinations in recent years, offering not only its Adriatic and Ionian coastline in summer but also stunning natural beauty during winter.
Among the highlights are the Albanian Alps, whose snow-covered peaks create breathtaking landscapes. Prime Minister Edi Rama on Friday shared images of the snow-clad mountains from Wanderlust in Albania 2, a project by Bleron Caka, one of the winners of the International Photo and Video Reels Competition.
Now in its second year, the “Wanderlust in Albania” competition showcases the country’s landscapes and cultural heritage through the lenses of both professional and amateur photographers and videographers from Albania and 36 other countries.
Caka’s video focused on the Albanian Alps, which are drawing growing numbers of visitors with their unique scenery. Characterized by sharp contrasts, deep river valleys with crystal-clear waters, dramatic gorges, and rich vegetation, the Alps are increasingly recognized as a natural gem of Albania.
The region’s towering peaks – including Radohima, Maja e Hekurave, Mount Arapi, and Mount Shkëlzen – seem to touch the sky, while their beauty is reflected in pristine rivers such as the Shala, Valbona, and Curraj, and in glacial lakes including Peja, Jezerca, Dobërdol, and Sylbica. Together, they offer both serene tranquility and thrilling adventure to visitors year-round.
With its natural contrasts and unique biodiversity, the Albanian Alps remain a top attraction for both domestic and international tourists, further solidifying Albania’s growing reputation as a four-season destination.
