Government-Polytechnic University agreement, Rama: Paid internships for students, bridge between universities and state

TIRANA, October 1/ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama emphasized today the significance of building new bridges of cooperation to orient students towards the labor market.

Present at the signing ceremony of the agreement between the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy and the Polytechnic University of Tirana, the prime minister appreciated that this is a step towards supporting and preparing the students through paid work practices, with the aim of their professional training, as well as close acquaintance on the ground with all the processes of infrastructure development.

Rama said that, “We are already at an important moment on the path of promoting cooperation between the government and the university”.

“Since we announced the ‘Pact for the University’, there have been continuous developments in the process of interaction with the university. The experience has taught us that in this process of collaborations with different faculties there is much to learn, but at the same time there is always more to do”, said Rama.

Today’s program, according to the prime minister, is an expression of this fact. But, at the same time, the prime minister said that, “Beyond this program, which will enable recruitment for a special internship for a number of students of this university, we will go even further.”

“We want to offer even more special programs of this nature to give the opportunity to all those who study at universities to begin to materialize a perspective of the future without finishing their studies yet,” Rama added.

The prime minister emphasized that the goal is for students to get involved into work practices, which open up this perspective to them and provide them with necessary information regarding how they can become a permanent part of the various bodies that operate in the interests of the Albanian state.

“On the other hand, the goal is also to create new bridges and channels of cooperation so that the government’s investments and direct support for the university go to the function of mutual benefit. So, what the university benefits from materializes in the concrete lives of students and what the state invests in materializes in the impact that these students have in improving the quality of work in special state structures”, Rama added.

The prime minister announced that the work practices have now become routine and every year there is a considerable number of students who have the opportunity to use these work practices to realize this transition between the university and the work front in everyday life. /r.e/p.s./
