TIRANA, Oct 1 /ATA/ – Consumer confidence in Albania improved modestly in September, even as overall economic sentiment dipped due to declining confidence in industry and trade, the Bank of Albania said in a quarterly survey on Wednesday.
According to the data, the Consumer Confidence Index (CCI) rose by 0.8% during the month, placing it 1.4% above its historical average. The rise was mainly driven by positive perceptions and expectations regarding major purchases.
In contrast, the broader Economic Sentiment Indicator (ESI) fell by 1.3% in September. However, the indicator remains 7% above its long-term average, the central bank noted.
The decline in economic sentiment was primarily attributed to falling confidence in the trade and industrial sectors, while consumer and services sector sentiment saw gains. Confidence in the construction sector remained unchanged from the previous month.
The Bank of Albania conducts its business and consumer sentiment surveys quarterly (March, June, September, and December), covering indicators such as capacity utilization and financial conditions.
