Albania launches national flu vaccination campaign, prioritizing healthcare workers

TIRANA, Sept 22 /ATA/ – Albania officially launched its 2025 – 2026 seasonal flu vaccination campaign on Monday, with healthcare workers among the first to receive the vaccine in clinics across the country.

The Institute of Public Health (IPH) said vaccinating medical staff is critical to protecting not only healthcare professionals themselves, but also their families, colleagues, and patients.

The Ministry of Health has secured 280,000 doses of the flu vaccine, distributed nationwide. The vaccine remains the most effective protection against seasonal respiratory viruses.

For the first time, citizens can book their vaccination time and location online via the government’s e-Albania platform.

According to the Ministry of Health directives, flu shots are recommended for people over 65, individuals with chronic conditions – including cardiovascular, pulmonary, and kidney diseases – as well as pregnant women and children over six months of age.
