TIRANA, Sept 10 /ATA/ Tourism in Albania continues to have a significant impact on the national economy, attracting an increasing number of foreign visitors each year.
The Bank of Albania released data on Wednesday showing that in the first half of 2025, foreign tourists spent around 2.1 billion euros in Albania, marking an increase of 7.7% compared to the corresponding period in 2024.
Expenditures by foreign visitors make a direct contribution to the growth of Albania’s national income, reinforcing the role of tourism as one of the country’s strategic sectors for economic development.
According to data from INSTAT, in the first half of 2025, Albania welcomed 4.7 million foreign nationals, representing an increase of approximately 5% compared to the same period of the previous year.
Tourists have chosen Albania not only for its beautiful beaches and favorable climate, but also for its mountainous regions with impressive natural landscapes, ancient cities rich in historical and cultural value, as well as for the hospitality and traditional cuisine.
On the other hand, Albanians have also significantly increased their spending on travel abroad. According to the “Balance of Payments” report by the Bank of Albania, during the first half of 2025, they spent 1.3 billion euros on travel, marking an annual increase of 7.5%.
Meanwhile, the travel balance remains positive.
The net inflow from foreign tourist receipts minus Albanian outbound travel expenditures, referred to as the travel balance, stood at 800 million euros during this period. This underscores the robust export potential of Albania’s tourism industry.
Today, tourism has transformed into a year-round activity, not only generating significant revenue for the economy but also promoting Albania as a sustainable and all-season destination.
