TIRANA, Sept 9 /ATA/ The “Avatar City” exhibition by artist Dritan Nasi opened last night at the FAB Gallery near the University of Arts.
The artist portrays the exhibition as a striking critique of our social media dependence, emphasizing a world where every moment must be shared and every experience is reduced to a story or reel.
Curated by Ermir Hoxha, the exhibition exposes a society devoid of genuine emotions, where individuals live for their audience rather than themselves. It goes beyond a simple critique of social media, offering a stark portrayal of our reality—where identities have transformed into avatars shaped by artificial intelligence and controlled by algorithms.
“Avatar City,” open to the public until September 14, aims to depict a world where people don’t live to truly experience their lives but rather to show that they are living. Every action, from enjoying a coffee to a personal moment, is turned into an event.
The artist explains that life has shifted from being truly lived to being performed—an emotional striptease where external appearances are showcased while the inner self remains hollow.
In “Avatar City,” faces appear blurred, the backdrop is artificially illuminated, and every individual is linked to others through an unseen screen.
The exhibition features 25 large-scale paintings portraying modern life where humans have transformed into metaphysical beings. It also includes 6 sizable drawings centered on the same theme. Opened under the auspices of the Ministry of Economy, Culture, and Innovation, the event will be complemented by a series of open lectures. /j.p/sm/
