TIRANA, Sept 8 /ATA/ – Albania head coach Sylvinho and team captain Berat Gjimshiti said on Monday that the national team is fully focused on securing three points in Tuesday’s 2026 World Cup qualifier against Latvia.
The home match kicks off at 20:45 at Air Albania Stadium in Tirana.
Speaking at a pre-match press conference, Sylvinho emphasized the importance of the fixture and confirmed that Albania will go all out for a win.
“This is a crucial match. Latvia is a physical, well-organized side that fights for every ball. They’ve shown strength in set-pieces and have had results. This game will be very different from the friendly we had against Gibraltar,” Sylvinho said.
The head coach added that the starting lineup is still undecided and will be finalized after the final training session.
Captain Berat Gjimshiti echoed the coach’s message, noting that the team is well-prepared and determined to claim victory.
“The team has trained well. We’ve had time to prepare for this game. It won’t be easy, but we’re optimistic. We feel the pressure – and that’s a good thing. Pressure keeps us focused,” said Gjimshiti.
Albania will be looking to build momentum in the early stages of the FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifying campaign, with Group matches intensifying in the coming months.
