Rama: Investment in Port of Durrës: the largest foreign investment in the Balkans

TIRANA, Sept 4 /ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama announced today that strategic investments in the Port of Durrës, along with upcoming projects in Sazan and Zvërnec, amount to a total value of €10 billion.

In a media interview, Rama emphasized that the investment in the Port of Durrës represents the largest foreign investment in the Balkans. He noted that construction is currently underway, with a new beach already completed and work on the first phase of the project now in progress.

Prime Minister Rama announced that by the summer of 2027, a remarkable new destination will be revealed.

He added that interest in the Durrës Marina is steadily growing, with bookings already underway from members of the Albanian diaspora, visitors from Kosovo, and international guests.

He highlighted the growing excitement surrounding the Durrës Marina, pointing out that bookings have already begun from the Albanian diaspora, visitors from Kosovo, and international tourists.

“These major investments amount to €10 billion. Bookings at the Durrës Marina have already been made by members of the Albanian diaspora, visitors from Kosovo, and foreign investors,” said Prime Minister Rama.

He went on to highlight the growing interest of international funds in Albania, signalling increased confidence in the country’s development potential.

Prime Minister Rama revealed that he has held meetings with multiple German and British investment funds showing interest in purchasing residential properties in Albania. He also noted that Forbes Property has signalled its intent to engage. Furthermore, discussions are underway with a prominent group aiming to invest in Albania’s education and healthcare sectors.

“I said it years ago—there would come a time when the most valuable ‘commodity’ here would be safety and tranquility. It may sound surreal, but that’s the reality,” Rama stated. “Security, peace, and Albania’s central location in Europe—just a short distance from everywhere—are things that foreigners deeply appreciate, even though we ourselves often overlook them.”

According to Prime Minister Rama, Albania is becoming increasingly attractive to international investors.

He remarked, “Albania has left behind the era of stagnation—today, it’s a country on the rise.”
