Bashtova Castle reopens to public after restoration

TIRANA, Aug 29 /ATA/ The Castle of Bashtova reopened its doors to the public today following restoration works supported by the European Union through the “EU4Culture” program.

Today, Bashtova Castle is buzzing with energy as it hosts a full day of activities celebrating its restoration and cultural revitalization. Visitors can explore a vibrant fair featuring regional products, enjoy live concerts, and take part in interactive events designed for children and youth

As part of the grand reopening of Bashtova Castle, visitors are treated to a unique blend of history and modern culture. The event features a striking vintage car exhibition by “Retro Albania”, showcasing classic models that celebrate Albania’s automotive heritage. Alongside them, “Steel Wings Albania” presents iconic motorcycles, adding a dynamic edge to the celebration.

The evening continues with a captivating concert by Rona Nishliu and Gent Rushi, joined by DJ Rossa for an electrifying close to the festivities at Bashtova Castle.

Once severely damaged by the 2019 earthquake, Bashtova Castle has now been fully restored and reopened to the public, thanks to the support of the European Union through the EU4Culture program. The restoration preserved the castle’s authentic architectural elements, introduced new visitor spaces, and uncovered previously hidden historical layers—marking the beginning of a new chapter for this medieval monument.
