First Public Consultation Meeting held for National Artificial Intelligence Strategy

TIRANA, Aug 28 /ATA/ The first online public consultation for the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy was held on Thursday.

Linda Karçanaj, Director of the National Agency for Information Society (AKSHI), noted that the strategy was crafted with support from the World Bank and other international partners, providing access to global expertise and experience.

“Albania has entered a crucial phase of technological advancement. In the coming years, we will witness a new level of standards through the integration of AI across key sectors, including healthcare, education, agriculture, energy, transport, tourism, and the environment,” Karçanaj highlighted in a social media post.

“We shared with the stakeholder groups the fundamental principles on which this strategy is built: Ethics and transparency, data security and protection, inclusiveness, and alignment with the European framework,” Karçanaj added.

Karҫanaj highlighted that “the National AI Strategy will provide Albania with faster, more streamlined, and transparent public services, improving the quality of interactions between citizens and institutions. It enhances trust and accountability through data-driven decision-making. The strategy also stimulates investment and economic growth by attracting both domestic and foreign capital, creating new jobs, and boosting competitiveness. Furthermore, it fosters innovation in education, science, and industry by strengthening human capacities, utilizing open data, and supporting scientific research. By fully aligning with EU standards through the transposition of the EU AI Act and related guidelines, Albania positions itself as a reliable partner for digital integration with the European market.”

Karҫanaj emphasized that “this strategy is a major step forward toward a sustainable, reliable digital economy that serves the citizens.”
