TIRANA, Aug 20 /ATA/ – More than 111,000 passengers arrived or left Albania via Durres Port in July alone, making it the busiest month of the 2025 tourist season, the port authority said on Wednesday.
According to official data, 111,049 passengers used the ferry terminal last month, with foreign travellers accounting for the largest share at 70,281. Some 40,768 Albanian nationals also travelled by sea, either for holidays abroad or within the country.
In total, 83,116 passengers arrived and 27,933 departed through the port, which officials said operated at full capacity without delays or disruptions.
Port Security units, Border Police, customs agents and other law enforcement bodies were deployed to manage the summer traffic, ensuring “an orderly and efficient process throughout the month,” the authority said.
Passenger volumes were broadly in line with July 2024 levels, down by just around 1% – or 1,981 passengers – reflecting stable demand in the maritime transport sector during the peak tourism season.
