TIRANA, Aug 11 /ATA/ – Renovation work on Albania’s National Museum of Fine Arts is progressing rapidly and will give the capital a new contemporary cultural venue, Economy, Culture and Innovation Minister Blendi Gonxhja said on Monday.
“The upgraded museum will feature expanded exhibition spaces, advanced preservation facilities, a modern restoration laboratory and international-standard technology to welcome visitors, curators and artists from around the world,” Gonxhja said.
The project also includes improved accessibility with two new entrances, a modern security system, emergency staircases and HVAC climate-control systems to preserve artworks.
The transformation aims to turn the museum into a contemporary hub for art and culture in Albania. The reconstruction began in late 2021 following damage from a powerful earthquake in November 2019.
