Kavaja hospital renovation nearing completion, services to be upgraded for over 100,000 residents

TIRANA, Aug 6 /ATA/ – Full reconstruction of the regional hospital in Kavaja is nearing completion under a project aimed at delivering modern healthcare services to over 100,000 residents of Kavaja, Rrogozhina and surrounding coastal areas, Health Minister Albana Koçiu said on Wednesday.

During a site visit, Koçiu highlighted the completion of maternity and pediatric wards, upgrades to emergency services, and overall infrastructure improvements, including water and sanitation systems.

The facility, twinned with Tirana’s “Shefqet Ndroqi” University Hospital, will serve both local residents and seasonal tourists.

The project also includes expanded physiotherapy services, which the ministry plans to replicate in other regional hospitals.

Koçiu said strengthening local hospitals is a key priority to bring healthcare closer to communities.
