TIRANA, July 18 /ATA/-By Maela Marini/ Prime Minister Edi Rama today invited representatives from the technology and innovation sectors to draft the program “AI Albania 2030,” outlining Albania’s vision for artificial intelligence by the year 2030. Following the marathon meeting in Berat with representatives from technology, innovation, and startups, Rama announced that everyone in this sector who wishes to contribute can submit their draft program for “AI Albania 2030.”
Rama invited sector representatives to submit proposals for the “AI Albania 2030” program, which will be reviewed, approved, and sent to parliament to be incorporated into a government work plan. He also announced quarterly joint assemblies to address challenges and promote innovation in the sector.
“We will appoint the Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence with your involvement, provided you succeed in creating an AI model capable of selecting the minister. This will mark the first step toward a historic milestone, with Albania becoming the first country to have a government fully composed of AI-driven ministers and a prime minister. At that point, we will reach a new level: AI will handle the work, while the rest of us merely discuss politics without the power to make any decisions.”
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister announced that “the Minister of State for Entrepreneurship, the Minister of Economy, Culture, and Innovation, and the Minister of Education and Sports will be tasked with drafting the framework agreement between the government and the technology and innovation sector.”
The Prime Minister added, “We need to begin a new chapter by providing access to all government institutions, so you can obtain the complete database required.”
He went on to say, “This will enable the creation of processes that will produce artificial intelligence models to help us better serve the public, assist you in your work, and promote our products.”
Rama specifically commended the sector’s efforts to capitalize on the EU accession process.
“The organization formed within this sector, comprising a substantial membership, is undertaking significant work to acquire the expertise needed to successfully access EU funds through the submission of reliable projects,” Rama stated.
He added, “This serves as an excellent example for the entire private sector.”
The Prime Minister highlighted that in September, an Albanian startup will unveil a groundbreaking innovation in Tirana set to revolutionize the global architecture industry.
