TIRANA, June 26 /ATA/ The Ambassador of the European Union Delegation to Tirana, Silvio Gonzato, visited the High Prosecutorial Council and engaged in discussions with Chairwoman Mirela Bogdani and the members of the Council.
The Ambassador emphasized that, at this critical stage of the EU negotiations, the independent justice institutions have a key role to play.
“At this critical stage in the EU negotiations, independent justice institutions have a key role to play. EU Ambassador Silvio Gonzato visited the High Prosecutorial Council and met with Chair Mirela Bogdani and HPC members. He reaffirmed EU support, praised the Council’s progress, and encouraged continued efforts towards ensuring effectiveness and accountability of the prosecutorial offices.
“We commend the increased dialogue between the independent justice institutions, including the HJI, because this achieves coherent and coordinated responses to their common challenges. I also believe that these institutions should actively contribute to, and be involved in any discussion on legal amendments affecting the judiciary,” said Ambassador Gonzato.
