TIRANA, June 6 /ATA/ Lowering the income threshold and the obligation for dual-employed individuals to file has led to a significant increase in the number of citizens submitting the Annual Individual Income Declaration (DIVA) for the year 2024.
According to data published by the General Directorate of Taxes, in 2024, a total of 124,416 individuals submitted the Annual Individual Income Declaration (DIVA), of which around 58,500 are new declarants, compared to 65,910 individuals who filed in 2023.
This increase is attributed to changes in the law that lowered the annual income threshold from 2 million lekë to 1.2 million lekë, thereby expanding the category of individuals required to submit the declaration.
Additionally, dual-employed individuals, regardless of their income level, have continued to be subject to the obligation of completing and submitting the Annual Individual Income Declaration (DIVA).
Another change for 2024 was the submission deadline, which was moved up from April 30 to March 31, increasing the pressure to meet the obligation on time.
However, out of the 143,369 individuals required to submit the DIVA for 2024, about 19,000 failed to meet the deadline and will therefore be fined 3,000 lekë.
The tax administration urges all individuals subject to the declaration requirement to be diligent in meeting deadlines and ensuring the accuracy of the reported information. /a.gj. /a.g/sm/
