Albania recognized as a model in Berlin Process for creative economy

TIRANA, May 31 /ATA/ Minister of Economy, Culture, and Innovation Blendi Gonxhja took part in the Berlin Process ministerial meeting on the creative economy for the Western Balkans in Kotor, Montenegro, where the Creative Economy Support Package was officially launched.

During the meeting, Minister Gonxhja held discussions with the United Kingdom’s Special Representative for the Western Balkans, Dame Karen Pierce, senior officials from the British Council’s Central Office, and John Newbigin, the London Mayor’s Ambassador for the Creative Economy.

“Albania was praised for its contribution and dignified representation in European cultural and economic initiatives. The establishment of the Ministry of Economy, Culture, and Innovation was particularly highlighted as a visionary governance approach aligned with the sustainable and innovative development agenda,” the Ministry of Economy, Culture, and Innovation (MEKI) announced.

The hosting of a ministerial dedicated to the creative economy within the Berlin Process framework—focusing on the intersection of economy, culture, and innovation—reflects the growing recognition of Albania’s forward-looking vision in the context of European integration. It also spotlights the country’s progress in fostering innovation, advancing policy and reform in the creative industries, supporting startups, promoting cultural tourism, strengthening vocational education, and embracing new technologies and craftsmanship.

The first tranche of funding was approved immediately, while the second is set to be formalized in October in London, confirming direct support for expertise, development projects, and programs.
