Karçanaj: Advanced Technologies Serving Citizens and Businesses Across All Sectors

TIRANA, May 30 /ATA/ The Director of the National Agency for Information Society, Linda Karçanaj, stated that “The Albanian Council for Technology and Innovation – ACTI has now become not only a platform for collaboration but also a driving force for the development of the ICT sector in Albania.”

In her remarks at the “Act Now 2025” Summit held in Tirana, Linda Karçanaj stated that ACTI is a ground-breaking platform driving forward genuine innovation, promoting cross-sectoral collaboration, and regional impact in strategic areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Quantum Technologies, Startups, and Investments.

She emphasized that the endeavor to transform Albania into a nation that develops innovative solutions, exports advanced technologies, and assumes a leadership role in innovation remains a complex undertaking, marked by considerable challenges.
“Albania is progressing swiftly in the adoption of advanced technologies. The foremost challenge today is not simply to utilize technology, but to innovate and develop it domestically. It is imperative that we move beyond being mere consumers of foreign solutions and instead generate intrinsic national value within the ICT sector. Our objective is to establish systems that integrate cutting-edge technologies and, through the application of interaction and artificial intelligence, effectuate substantive improvements in the lives of citizens and enterprises across diverse sectors, including education, healthcare, infrastructure, and agriculture. Addressing these challenges necessitates the creation of a cohesive and collaborative ecosystem,” stated Ms. Karçanaj.

She commended the companies participating in the meeting, describing them as instrumental supporters of the progress achieved in this field, contributing to the advancement of the digital agenda in Albania.
“These companies are capable of competing today in the European market. The digital development in Albania is attributed to the vision of Prime Minister Edi Rama, while the use of Artificial Intelligence is helping to accelerate EU integration and to counter cyberattacks. Notably, over 60% of cyberattack attempts are thwarted through automated threat detection and response systems enabled by these advanced solutions,” Karçanaj stated in her address. She further highlighted that “Albania is emerging as a key hub for technology and innovation on the international stage, as demonstrated by the engagement of leading global technology corporations such as Microsoft, IBM, Oracle, Check Point, alongside prominent international investors at this summit.”
