Sejko: Internal auditing is essential for identifying risks early, enhancing processes, and safeguarding institutional integrity

TIRANA, May 20 /ATA/ The Regional Auditing Conference held in Tirana focused on promoting cooperation between internal and external auditors, along with authorities, and sharing international best practices in auditing. Auditors from Albania, North Macedonia, and other countries in the region participated in the event.

The Governor of the Bank of Albania, Gent Sejko, present at the conference, stated that, ” Internal auditing plays a crucial role in the early identification of risks, enhancing processes, and safeguarding institutional integrity.”

Sejko expressed his commitment to supporting the professional development of auditors and promoting an integrated approach to institutional governance.
“We are convinced that only through close cooperation between internal and external auditors, as well as supervisory authorities, can we build stronger, more transparent, and more trustworthy institutions. In a broader context, where financial institutions face new challenges such as digitalization, increasing cyber risks, climate developments, and pressures for sustainability, the role of auditors, and especially the collaboration between them and regulatory authorities, remains crucial for maintaining financial stability and transparency,” stated Sejko.
