Hasani: We aim to accelerate reforms and conclude negotiations by 2027

TIRANA, May 19 /ATA/ Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Igli Hasani, stated that Albania is committed to accelerating reforms and concluding negotiations for EU accession by 2027.

Present at the discussion on European identity, organized today by the EU Delegation Office in Tirana with professors, academics, and students as part of the “European Week,” Hasani emphasized that despite developments, Albania has not lost its European identity.
“The EU is the only political entity in today’s world that expands in peace, and it has a list of candidate countries eager to become members of the EU. This step is unpinned by the building of liberal democracies, which are based on three main pillars: humanism, the rule of law, and the free market,” said Hasani.

He pointed out that Albania has a rich history of demonstrating its humanism, while staying committed to strengthening the rule of law and promoting the growth of a free market.

“The justice reform, under the stewardship of Prime Minister Rama, was one of the most significant reforms and laid the foundation for the establishment of a new, independent, and objective justice system,” stated the minister.

Hasani emphasized that Albania has worked diligently to align its policies, institutions, and practices with EU standards.
“Today, Albania is on a clear path towards full EU membership, with the goal of completing all major reforms by 2027 and joining the European Union. As we progress, the EU is at the forefront of this commitment and supports us in this pivotal moment of the process,” stated Hasani.
