Bank of Albania: Non-performing loans, at historic low

TIRANA, May 12/ATA/ The Bank of Albania reported today that the non-performing loan ratio fell in March 2025 to 4%, from 4.2% a month earlier.

According to the BoA, this is the lowest level in the last 10 years. The non-performing loan level fell to 4% from 25%, its maximum level in September 2014.

The reduction in interest rates for all loans, both in foreign currency and in the national currency, has had a positive impact on the timely payment of loan installments.

The reduction in interest rates has also made installments cheaper, while the depreciation of currencies has also had a positive impact on the repayment of loans taken in foreign currency.

On the other hand, the BoA estimates that the performance of the banking sector is quite good, with profits reaching the highest historical values. This is increasing the supply of credit, which has a direct impact on the growth of the country’s economy. /r.e/j.p/p.s./
