TIRANA, May 11 /ATA/ – The State Election Commissioner Ilirjan Celibashi has announced that the e-voting results in Tirana’s Municipal Unit No. 10 and in the Municipality of Vore will be released on Monday.
Speaking at a press conference after polls closed in Albania’s parliamentary elections on Sunday, the head of the central election body said that the decision was made to protect the integrity of the electoral process, adding that the result will be officially released as soon as the early results from the ballot counting are announced.
“The electronic devices release the result immediately and the decision has nothing to do with their testing, but to protect the process’ integrity and to meet the demand by the main opposition Democratic Party that the result be released once the initial results from the ballot counting manually are also released,” Celibashi clarified.
Electronic voting and counting technology was implemented in two electoral zones, namely in the Municipal Unit No. 10 in Tirana and in the Municipality of Vore.
