TIRANA, May 9 /ATA/ – By Maela Marini/ Prime Minister Edi Rama, also the leader of the Socialist Party, expressed his conviction that in the May 11 elections, the Socialist Party will secure at least 78 seats.
At the final electoral rally for the May 11 elections in Tirana, Rama looked back on the political journey of the Socialist Party over the years.
“Nearly two decades ago, when you chose me to lead you, that peak seemed out of reach for Albanians, and we, the Socialists, were completely defeated. Our path to winning the hearts and minds of Albania started in the cold haze of a crushing defeat. It took time, energy, tremendous effort, and most importantly, an unbreakable character, even in the face of the greatest challenges,” said Rama.
Rama mentioned that Tirana became our stronghold, where we relentlessly envisioned, constructed, and transformed the city, facing the harsh opposition and ignorance of our political adversaries at every step of the way.
Rama accused his political opponents of doing everything to undermine them, even taking control of Tirana through an audacious and unfair act, uniting with anyone they could.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the reversal of our epic victory by the 10 votes, which gave us a joy both extraordinary and short-lived, was, in fact, the most significant test of character we forged, step by step.
Rama emphasized that “that humiliating downfall was the final trial before the unstoppable rise of the Socialist Party.”
“Two years after that humiliation, our community, our large family, regained the center of the Albanian political stage, where we have become the unstoppable force of Albania’s renaissance, and we will remain stronger than ever following the historic victory of the Socialist Party on Sunday, May 11,” said Rama.
“Nothing has ever been easy for me or for you, and what our opponents will never grasp is that they will never defeat us unless they understand why we keep defeating them, each time, more profoundly. They claim we can’t be beaten by votes. I fully agree with them on this, because to earn more votes than us, you have to be better than us – but no one is better than us,” said Rama.
Rama mentioned that even the newcomers do not resemble us, nor our long-standing opponents.
