TIRANA, May 8 /ATA/ Entrepreneur Behgjet Pacolli, whose company Mabetex is part of the consortium developing Vlora Airport, stated on Thursday that the airport will be highly functional, a unique project in the region, and he is confident it will also be the most beautiful.
In his speech at the ceremony marking the completion of the first certification flight at the airport, he stated, “When I had the initial discussions, we talked about this airport, and it was hard to imagine that it would become a reality.”
“I arrived at Tirana airport at 4 in the morning after a long journey across the ocean, and the airport was already buzzing with activity. Many planes were preparing to take off and head in various directions. That experience reinforced my conviction that we must speed up the process and open this airport as soon as possible, because it’s no longer a luxury, but a necessity,” Pacolli emphasized.
Addressing his colleagues, Pacolli said, “The commitment here, day and night, is not just for show, but a monumental effort that will contribute to the families and residents of this area.”
“I’m pleased to hear that over 1,000 workers will be employed here. These are prestigious and well-paid jobs. The income will be good, and it’s seen as a privileged opportunity. With just a bit more courage to keep moving forward, the day will come when I will invite the prime minister to return and see this airport, including its interior,” said Pacolli.
Pacolli remarked, “Perhaps today I’ve been fortunate to have been given the freedom and autonomy to implement this project, and I’ve contributed my own experience and insight. There will be some flaws, but they are meant to be corrected, and we will see a project unlike anything the region has ever seen.”
