TIRANA, April 26/ATA/ The leader of the Democratic Party Sali Berisha assured today that this political force will do the utmost to guarantee the success of women, while stating that in the past 12 years’ Albanian women have faced increasing poverty.
In a speech given during the international conference “Global She: Voices of Power, Unity, and Change”, organized by the Democratic League of Women, Berisha stated that one of the major objectives of the DP is the fight against the wall of patriarchy.
“In 2005, the difference in salaries between men and women in the Albanian administration was 36 percent. With a project and persistence, we reduced this difference to 17.8 percent, so we brought it very close to the average difference in the EU. We developed a series of projects with which we supported women, their businesses, their participation”, Berisha said.
Berisha assured that the DP will do the utmost for the success of women, while accusing that, “Rama’s campaign is feminist in appearance, but misogynist in essence”.
Berisha promised that, “In addition to inclusion in all instances of government, special credit lines will be created for women’s businesses”.
“It is true that Edi Rama appointed a lot of women ministers in his cabinet and you know, I stood up in Parliament and congratulated him sincerely. But, what can I say after 4 years? They have not raised a single issue in the promotion, in favor, in the protection of women in Albania. None”, he added. /m.m/j.p/p.s./
