TIRANA, April 21 /ATA/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama, also leader of the ruling Socialist Party (SP), on Monday visited the construction site of Dyrrah City Football Academy, one of the region’s largest sport facilities being built in the Albanian coastal city of Durres.
The government head, accompanied by the Minister of Education and Sports Ogerta Manastirliu, and Durres Mayor Emiriana Sako, said that the sports complex is being constructed according to the campus of the Manchester City football academy.
The project is designed to establish an elite academy for the young Albanian talented footballers to reach the highest levels of the game.
Dyrrah City Football Academy is result of the Manchester City and the Albanian Ministry of Education and Sport, which will be materialized with construction of the largest and most modern training facility in Albania and in the region, housing eight sports pitches, gyms, physiotherapy centre and multifunctional premises to discover and promote young talented footballers.
The complex will also feature two basketball courts, a residence for sportsmen and sportswomen and a recreational park. The new facility will utilise Manchester City coaching methodology to provide world-class football education to its players.
According to the project managers, the site will also house a dedicated parking space, two main sport facilities, seven synthetic turf pitches, three natural turf pitches, a mini-stadium that will host sport events, as well as two basketball courts.
Construction of the complex is scheduled to complete after 48 months. However, the government head announced that the project may complete by September next year.
