TIRANA, April 16 /ATA/ – Albania’s annual harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP), the Eurostat methodology, was estimated at 2.5% in March 2025, the National Institute of Statistics, INSTAT, said on Wednesday.
According to Eurostat, Albania’s inflation is 0.4% higher than the rate measured according to INSTAT’s methodology.
Data from INSTAT shows that the HICP increase in March was mainly driven by an 8.9 % rise in recreation and culture group, followed by a 4.1% increase in alcoholic beverages and tobacco prices, and a 3.1% increase in furniture and household goods, and hotels, restaurants and café.
According to INSTAT, prices of food and non-alcoholic products rose 2.5%, clothes and footwear increased 2.3%, education and communication rose 1.4% respectively, health prices increased 0.8%, and water, rent, fuel and energy prices rose 0.3%.
Data show that transport prices declined by 1.3%.
Eurozone inflation is measured on the basis of the HICP indicator. The term “harmonized” underlines the fact that all EU countries apply the same methodology in measuring the relevant indicator. HICP assesses consumer price inflation in the eurozone and is based on a standardised methodology adopted across European Union countries, allowing for meaningful comparisons of data between different nations.
