TIRANA, April 14 /ATA/ – Democratic Party (DP) leader Sali Berisha stated Monday that the opposition’s electoral program is designed to deliver significant changes for people with disabilities in the first 100 days of a future centre-right government if the main opposition party wins parliamentary elections in Albania next month.
In a meeting with people with disabilities, DP leader pledged to set a minimum living pension for every individual with disabilities and minimum wage for the family members looking after them.
“I assure that your pensions, that is, this living minimum, will be exceeded according to your disability degree, without any hesitation. I assure you that for every citizen with disabilities, who is the head of the family, who supports the family, his family members will be granted the minimum living wage,” he said.
Berisha claimed that people with disabilities and other vulnerable social groups had been abandoned and ignored by the Socialist government.
He noted that only 300 to 400 people with disabilities were employed, while only 212 individuals with disabilities have joined the country’s public administration that currently has around 220 000 employees.
DP leader renewed his promise to set a minimum pension of 200 euros.
