TIRANA, April 3 /ATA/ The Special Prosecution Office against Corruption and Organized Crime has reacted to the illegal interference in the e-mail addresses of SPAK prosecutors and emphasized that thanks to security measures, SPAK’s internal system has not been compromised.
According to SPAK, “It has come out that there is interfered only in the e-mail addresses of some prosecutors, but not in the general IT system of the institution. The responsible persons have managed to obtain some information, without being able to provide access to the investigative files. They have also attempted to interfere in the e-mail of the Head of the Special Prosecution Office Altin Dumani, but without success”.
In regard to this illegal interference, SPAK said that two people have been arrested.
“Thanks to an intensive investigation led by the Special Prosecution Office, with the involvement of the BKH and the Expertise Sector of this Prosecution Office, it was possible to uncover this illegal interference, by identifying and arresting within 24 hours two citizens – the individual who carried out the interference in the e-mails and the one who distributed the information to third parties. It was also possible to seize the equipment used to carry out the interference as well as the downloaded files”, SPAK said.
SPAK said that it assures the public and all interested parties that all measures have been taken to protect the files, sensitive data and to preserve the integrity of the institution’s infrastructure.
Investigations regarding this matter continue in the context of suspicions about the existence of a structured criminal group. /a.f//r.e/p.s./
