Gonzato: EU’s Growth Plan tackles socio-economic challenges in Albania

TIRANA, April 3 /ATA/ – The Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Albania, Ambassador Silvio Gonzato affirmed Thursday the EU support for social and youth employment policies in Albania.

Addressing the regional conference “Social Dialogue in the Western Balkans,” Ambassador Gonzato emphasized the importance of social dialogue, calling it essential not just for EU accession but for Albania’s social cohesion.

Gonzato underlined that social policies should be the focus, saying that young people are increasingly anxious about their future and that anxiety fuels the desire to leave the country.

“Social dialogue plays a role in Albania’s health and it is a crucial part of the social and employment policies on the cluster 3 of the accession negotiations, due to open soon,” the EU Ambassador said.

“Social dialogue is essential not for the EU accession only, but also for the social cohesion. Young people are often concerned about their future and that fuels the desire to leave, because they feel job insecurity,” Ambassador Gonzato said.

“Albania has the EU’s full support, especially through the Growth Plan, which tackles both employment and broader socio-economic challenges—not just here, but across the Western Balkans,” Gonzato added.
