TIRANA, March 27 /ATA/ – Albanian government approved Thursday the second phase of EU4Schools, a programme funded by the European Union in response to the recovery process following the earthquake of November 2019.
The Council of Ministers approved in principle the amended agreement between the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Albania and the European Union for the “EU4SCHOOLS”programme.
The EU4Schools programme is funded by the EU with a fund of 75 million euros and is being implemented by the UNDP Albania in collaboration with the Albanian government.
A total of 63 education facilities in the 11 earthquake-affected municipalities are being reconstructed or repaired across Albania in the context of the Programme.
The repair of the school is guided by two key principles: BuildBackBetter, aiming at rebuilding stronger, safer, and more disaster-resilient infrastructure and systems; and BuildBackTogether, engaging children, pupils’ local governments, local public institutions, and communities in public consultations to have a say on the design and reconstruction process.
