TIRANA, March 25 /ATA/ – During his official visit to Vienna, Albanian President Bajram Begaj was hosted by the Austrian Chancellor  Christian Stocker on Tuesday.

The Albanian head of state expressed gratitude to Chancellor Stocker for Austria’s support for EU membership of Albania.

“Albania-Austria partnership is based on shared values, democracy, peace and stability. These principles unite us and we are committed to working together to address regional and global challenges and to foster a stable and long-term relationship,” President Begaj said.

Begaj and Chancellor Stocker reaffirmed Austria’s support for swift EU membership negotiations and stronger economic ties.

President Begaj highlighted crucial role of early Austrian capital investments in Albanian economy. He also underscored assistance of the Austrian government to reform vocational education and justice system, economic and trade cooperation, as well as the Austrian investments in Albania.

“Albania remains optimistic about rapid progress in crucial reform areas. It’s time to accelerate the EU enlargement process in the Western Balkans, serving our shared strategic interests,” Begaj said.
