PM Rama: Unique AI-powered public procurement system to eliminate human interference

TIRANA, March 21 /ATA/-By Maela Marini/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama said Friday that Albania is working on building the first unique AI-powered public procurement system.

Speaking at an event on presentation of the anti-corruption report by GREKO, Europe’s top corruption watchdog, PM Rama said that a new wave of reforms will be launched to modernize governance and enhance transparency.

According to him, creation of a fully automated AI-based public procurement system, designed to remove human interference from 95% of processes is key to this new reform package as the country makes progress on the path towards EU accession.

“By far, it is the first model to ensure that 95% of the process is done without human interference,” PM Rama said.

The government head noted that Albanian government is working in partnership with Microsoft to build an AI-powered public procurement system.

“To this end, a workshop was held a few weeks ago, bringing together 16 technology and research companies from European countries engaged in developing AI-powered models for the public procurement systems,” he said.

According to him, digitization of the public procurement system would totally eliminate human contact in almost all procurement stages and enhance transparency and efficiency.
