TIRANA, March 21 /ATA/ – The main opposition Democratic Party (DP) leader Sali Berisha stated Friday that his party considers Albania’s European Union accession a top priority and major goal.
According to him, the country’s EU accession process will be unstoppable if the main opposition party wins the May 11 parliamentary elections in Albania.
“I would like to reassure Albanian citizens that DP is the true locomotive of Albania’s integration into international bodies, namely the Council of Europe, NATO, and other institutions. Albania received the EU candidate country status under DP leadership and Albania’s EU integration is DP’s major goal,” Berisha said.
Berisha stated that the main opposition party sees EU accession as a merit-based process and based on the rule of law and functioning free market economy.
He vowed that Albania’s EU accession process will be unstoppable, saying integration is on top of the program of his party.
