TIRANA, March 19/ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama, also the leader of the ruling Socialist Party, held a meeting today with the candidates running for MP of the Elbasan region.
PM Rama focused again in his speech on significance of the Albanian vote on May 11, in order to convey a clear message to the European Union that Albanians confirm the further continuation of accession negotiations through their vote.
“If on May 11, everyone goes to the polls with a crystal clear mind, then the negotiations can continue without any hesitation, which means on May 12, while the votes are counted, those who go to the office every Monday to work on the negotiations, which are 1,000 people among the state employees, should not have any hesitation and lack of focus. And also those who are in Brussels, will be aware that the Albanian people confirmed continuation of the negotiations,” Rama said.
The head of government emphasized that North Macedonia became a candidate to join the EU in 2005 and at present has not yet opened the negotiations. Therefore, according to him, this is the moment for Albania that will mark another record integration in the history of European integration, in just three years.
“We opened negotiations last year and can close them in 2027, great speed. We have worked, we have made up for the lost time and can close them in 2027. It will be a record in the entire history of integration. We started from being the smallest cog of the wheel, when no one would look at us and today we can be the country that has conducted negotiations in the fastest way of all, in 3 years’ time!”, Rama affirmed. /p.s./
