PM Rama: Albania to receive one billion euros annually after joining EU

TIRANA, March 17 /ATA/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama told a meeting with the Socialist Party candidates that securing Albania’s European Union accession is the main challenge if the ruling Socialists win a fourth term in office after the May 11 parliamentary elections.

The government head noted that benefits for the country joining the EU include not only freedom and rights, but also increased funding and investment.

According to him, Albania will be entitled to over one billion euros in EU funds annually once it becomes a member of the European family.

“SP needs a stronger mandate to ensure that 2030 finds Albania a EU member. This is not only a matter of rights and freedom, but also a matter of economic development and increased welfare,” he said.

PM Rama underlined that agricultural sector alone will benefit around 300 million euros annually once Albania joins the EU.
