DP: CEC must take measures against violations of Electoral Code

TIRANA, March 15/ATA/ Spokesperson for the Anti-Corruption Unit of the Democratic Party in opposition Genta Vangjeli stated today that, “So far, there have been reported 27 cases of administrative violations to the Central Election Commission during the pre-election process”.

In a statement to reporters, Vangjeli said that, “The Democratic Party has denounced the violations committed by government cabinet officials such as Belinda Balluku, Ogerta Manastirliu, Blendi Gonxhe, or other officials representing central and local state institutions”.

She added that in regard to these 27 complaint cases, the CEC has decided to accept them and begin administrative investigations into 16 cases, to reject investigations into 6 cases and to stop investigations into 2 cases.

“There are not taken yet any penal measures by the Central Election Commission on the 16 cases under investigation. The Democratic Party demands that CEC takes concrete measures for the violations identified and the specific violators to prevent them from carrying out of public activities prohibited according to the Electoral Code and the Decision of the Regulatory Commission, actions which do not ensure the smooth running of the electoral process and undermine the development of a fair and equal competition between the parties for the Parliamentary elections of May 11,” concluded Vangjeli. /p.s./
