PM Rama: EU membership is existential for Albania

TIRANA, March 6 /ATA/-By Maela Marini/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama, also leader of the Socialist Party (SP), has called Albania’s European Union membership as existential for the country and the Albanian people.

Speaking at a meeting with Socialist youth in Tirana on Thursday, PM Rama stated that “the European Union is the most extraordinary political project of humankind.”

“It is undoubtedly still an unfinished project and this is the reason why it faces troubles and weakness. However, on the other hand, there is nothing else and in a world where Europe is no longer the power it used to be in terms of its weight in the overall global economy, the European Union is the only answer,” PM Rama said.

The government head stated that “further expansion and creation of the United States of Europe is the answer.”

“It will take time, but we should be part of it and this is the right moment,” the government head, claiming that the ruling SP is the only political force that can deliver on Albania’s decade-long goal to become full EU member.
