Rama: Agricultural University is at a historic turning point, SPAK orders 24 police security measures for an issue that has no flagrant nature

TIRANA, February 26 /ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama, also the leader of the Socialist Party, expressed today his concern at the haste of declaring 24 people from the Agricultural University of Tirana under police security measures. And the event happens at a time when the University of Agriculture is at a historic turning point, while recalling the partnership with the BOKU University of Vienna.

During the hearing session of the Rector of the Agricultural University of Tirana Fatbardh Sallaku in the Parliamentary group of the Socialist Party, regarding the 24 security measures imposed by SPAK against the staff and lecturers of this university, PM Rama highlighted the fact that first of all it was ensured that the rector himself is not a person under investigation.

In this regard, Rama emphasized that, “We cannot give space and hold hearings with persons under investigation”.

“Secondly, it is worth doing for everyone to get to know that before you run for rector, you sent a letter to SPAK, asking them to clarify for you whether this candidacy would have any obstacles due to your status, and the answer was that the rector can continue to run”, Rama added.

The prime minister underlined that everyone should understand that the great concern in this case is not related at all to the evidence or to the fact of being guilty or innocent of the individuals, but is related to the haste to declare 24 people under security for a university that is at a historical turning point.

The prime minister stressed that this university has its future dependent on a strategic partnership with one of the oldest universities in the world.

“Undoubtedly, the first thing that came to my mind when I had this news is what the Austrian partners will think when they hear it, 24 people under security measure. “A staggering number for a two or three years old case and that has no flagrant nature, no reason to deal this blow to an institution of higher education,” said Rama. /jp/p.s./
