TIRANA, February 23/ATA/ Mayor of Tirana Erion Veliaj, in prison at the request of the Special Prosecution Office against Corruption and Organized Crime and by decision of the Special Anti-Corruption Court, has reacted today through a post in the social media.
Veliaj appreciated the file against him a farce that he is trying to dismantle with facts.
The mayor argued that in the indictment filed against him, it is alleged that the money of the living allowance and the travel tickets when he went abroad in official meetings were declared as his incomes. While as a matter of fact, all these travel expenses were provided by Tirana Municipality through the Contracting Authority and public procurement procedure, wrote Veliaj.
The question that arises in the investigative file against the mayor, according to Veliaj, is precisely the fact of who has covered his expenses abroad, while he has saved the money from the travels abroad.
Veliaj concluded by considering the suspicions as a blind attack of prosecutor Olsi Dado that was masterminded by opposition leader Sali Berisha. /r.e/p.s./
