TIRANA, Feb 20 /ATA/ The Ballies Mosque has won the first place for “The Most Beautiful Religious Architecture in the World” in the “Building of the Year 2025” competition, organized by ArchDaily, the world’s leading platform for architecture and design.
The award follows the announcement of its finalist status a few days ago, with the news being shared by the Muslim Community.
According to the Muslim Community, this prestigious award confirms the unique values of the mosque, which blends traditional Islamic architecture with modern elements, creating an inspiring space for worshippers and an extraordinary architectural work of art.
The incorporation of authentic materials like stone, wood, and copper, along with natural lighting and symbolic details, makes this place of worship an innovative example and a significant contribution to Albania’s religious and cultural heritage.
The selection and recognition of the Ballies Mosque in this prestigious competition is a remarkable achievement not only for the Muslim community but for all of Albania. As the only place of worship in Europe to receive this award, the mosque has now gained international recognition, highlighting the significant role of Albanian heritage and architecture on the global stage.
The Muslim Community highlighted that this success would not have been possible without the contribution and support of various parties.
“The Muslim Community extends a special thanks to architect Jurtin Hajro and Commonsense Studio for their vision and unwavering dedication in bringing this magnificent project to life. We also express our gratitude to the Embassy of Kuwait and all those who generously supported the mosque’s construction and played a key role in the implementation and completion of this monumental project,” the announcement stated.
