Gonxhja: Mountain Package is in full compliance with Electoral Code

TIRANA, Feb 19 /ATA/ Minister of Economy, Culture, and Innovation, Blendi Gonxhja, today welcomed the decision of the Complaints and Sanctions Commission within the Central Election Commission to continue parliamentary procedures for the approval of the draft law “On the Mountain Package.”

Gonxhja emphasized that this decision clearly confirms that the proposal from the Ministry of Economy, Culture, and Innovation (MEKI) and the Ministry of State for Local Government is fully in compliance with the provisions of the Electoral Code and does not run counter to the applicable legislation in force.

“We are glad that the legislative initiative undertaken by MEKI for the approval and implementation of this draft law will move ahead right away, ensuring sustainable access for the development and protection of mountain areas, in line with the best standards and practices,” said Gonxhja.

By a majority vote, the Complaints and Sanctions Commission today accepted the appeal of the Assembly of Albania and decided to annul point 2 of the decision of the State Election Commissioner, which recommended the Assembly of Albania not to include for consideration in the plenary session the draft law “On the Mountain Package.”

The “Mountain Package” aims to support investments in mountainous areas by encouraging local residents to invest in their lands.

In addition to the sustainable development of the rural economy, the “Mountain Package” will have an impact on promoting “Made in Albania” products and will contribute to the expansion of the tourist map.
