TIRANA, Feb 19 /ATA/ The Special Parliamentary Commission “For Deepening Reforms for Good Governance, Rule of Law, and Anti-Corruption for Albania 2030 in the European Union” held its next meeting today.
The SP MP, Etilda Gjonaj, in her role as the rapporteur, presented the Analytical Document for the Second Pillar: Anti-Corruption.
Gjonaj stated, “I believe this is a significant meeting for the approval of the analytical document for the Anti-Corruption pillar, which is highly complex as it addresses various aspects of public life in a comprehensive and multidimensional manner. It also encompasses all levels of governance, from local and central government to the private sector.”
Gjonaj stressed that “the aim of this document is to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the status quo on the fight against corruption in Albania, highlighting the achievements within the legal and institutional framework. At the same time, it also identifies weaknesses and shortcomings, and outlines areas where intervention is needed by thoroughly assessing the present situation.”
Gjonaj stated, “This has been thoroughly analyzed through a comprehensive review of international documents and reports, current Albanian legislation, strategic documents and objectives in this area, as well as the achievements and findings related to the issues, with references to international reports and those from civil society and other local actors.”
Gjonaj further stated, “The analytical document has been crafted based on Albania’s commitments in the EU accession process, specifically regarding the requirements outlined in the negotiating position for Cluster One – Fundamentals. It also incorporates consultations on the negotiation positions for Clusters Two and Three, which focus on the internal market and competitiveness.”
Gjonaj added that the analytical document “covers nine thematic areas, starting with the institutional and regulatory framework for combating corruption, and then addressing all the areas deemed thematic for targeted focus.”
